$40 was for 2 people. We eat there often and the food is great! Really nice buffet! The atmosphere is nice too! On Sunday and Monday you can do a buy one get one with your church bulletins! I don’t know exact price but around 20 a person!
They have some dishes that are gluten free but you should ask the staff to be sure .
Just not certain. I have always gone for the whole thing.
Yes Reservations are required
Yes
Last year it was $20 but if you take the church bulletin in the price drops to$10
Yes
If you attend church and bring in a bulletin, the dinner is buy one get one free. Good on Sundays and Monday's. Buffet on Sunday is $18.00
I ate there with a friend Mon 12/4 They charged $44.72. DRINKS are not included!? And then charged $47.02 again to my debit card. Because i was using a debit card! I have paid $91.74. For 2 terrible buffet dinners. I called them back to correct the problem and they blame the bank! Dont go to this place! They are in need of help. There is no sign stating how much a buffet is .then what a surprise when you go to pay. Plus drink price not included. And 5% extra to use debit card. Ive never heard of this. Will not go back.
It was a unique experience for us. During the restriction because of covid 19, they brought the buffet to your table in individual courses. Food was great and service was better. I would recommend to everyone.
Disappointed this time. My family and I eat at Gift Horse at least once every few weeks. Although the service was good, the food was very disappointing. The roast beef was tough and cold. The shrimp salad tasted sour. The dessert bar was almost empty, and the slice of pie I chose tasted old. We will be back as the food is usually wonderful. Perhaps they had an off day?
Last night I was very disappointed. Food barely warm. Turkey tasted old. Chowder was very good but barley warm. Very pricey for what i ate. Almost $25.
Food was okay, building beautiful. Had to listen to their church music the entire meal. Waitress was super sweet. Did not like at all they wanted to charge service fee to pay with any card, debit or credit. Never will go back since I question the legality of charging a service fee to use a credit/debit card. If legal be it so, but I will not visit again
Variety was good liked the salad bar
Great food and great service!
I'd heard some folks say the quality of their food had declined. I totally disagree. Our food was delicious and the selection of included desserts was bigger than I recall. Still a beautiful setting and good personable service. Can't beat their Sun/Mon discount when you bring in that week's church bulletin.
We won't be back because of all the Trump hats and other election paraphernalia displayed in the gift shop. It is offensive .
Really beautiful atmosphere. The service was great and the server gave us a history lesson on the building and some of the antiques. Their pecan yams are to die for and the apple cheese was different but worth the try. Definitely will go back.
We reserved 2019 Thanksgiving dinner at the Gift Horse. The experience was quite mediocre. The cost of the meal was very overpriced ($29.95) for the limited amount of food choices and did not include the iced tea (which was an additional $3.00). I'm not cheap...but seriously?!? The turkey was soaked in water. The dressing was soggy. They did not even have any gravy. The shrimp salad as well as the other salad options were not kept cold, but rather room temperature. Makes me wonder about food safety issues. On the plus side, the ambiance (think large ballroom banquet hall with formal dining tables) and wait staff were excellent and inviting.
Great, wholesome atmosphere. It's a place that makes you feel special, and the food is good, too.
Excellent food. The buffet was delicious. Fried chicken, fish, and all was perfect. Awesome salad bar. Everything was so good. The dessert bar was great. The wait staff was so nice. The place has alot of history. Downtown Foley has alot of neat shops next door.
The food was amazing! I loved the atmosphere! We will definitely go back!
Walk back in history at this very interesting restaurant. The southern cooking buffet was very good.
Good food, reasonable prices
This place was good. Services was good. Great atmosphere. Food was good at reasonable prices. Staff were good.
One of our favorite stops. Always delicious and a beautiful dining room.
The best Buffet around. Mrs. Jackie makes my great-grandmother Mimi proud with her delicious food. Wonderful salad bar, Apple Cheese and fried biscuits. Service is super friendly and if you leave hungry it's your own fault.
The Gift Horse is again open for inside dining. COVID-19 may prevent diners from frequenting their signature country buffet. But fear not: you can still enjoy all the tasty buffet dishes that this restaurant is justifiably popular for in their unique, historic dining room. And the ample size of the dining room itself ensures safe distances between tables. Your server can bring each and every favorite dish directly to you at your table for your dining pleasure, hot, fresh and as delicious as ever. Feast your eyes on the many unusual antiques on display, like crystal sculptures, tapestries, wooden carvings, and a wonderful collection of sailboat models. Finish your visit by treating yourself to something special from the Gift Horse gift shop. This is the Foley institution that supports our local clubs and still offers their church bulletin Sunday discount. Now they need our support in return. Visit the Gift Horse today!
My wife and I drove over to the Gift Horse this past Saturday from Pensacola,fl. The dinner was excellent as always and the food was great. The young lady who waited our table was friendly and served our table with attention to our needs, all the people here are very attentive. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is pretty .the fried shrimp and fish are very good as well the other foods and desserts. Treat your family to a greatMeal.
Beautiful and historical and food is authentic Southern cuisine
Beautiful building, and they have great antiques
Beautiful restaurant. Flavors were a bit strong for me. Desserts were weak.
Beautiful place! Tasty food and friendly staff!!
What a gem! Loved the food, the atmosphere, the environment. We will visit often while in the area.
I hate to do this but I have to let you know. When we first walked in there was no one to greet us. I walked in to ask if they were still open. Some of the food was okay but most of it was cold due to the platters being warmed by small in a can gas things. There is a lot going on in there as far as decorations go kinda makes you feel a little uneasy. I couldn't tell if it was halloween, thanksgiving, or christmas. The price was $19 a person for a buffet that only had 10 things to choose from. Dessert was a joke! Definitely not worth that amount of money. Tea was old! The place has potential and the people were great. We were the only ones there which should had told us something.
When we walked in we were sat in a separate part of the restaurant (while the other side was plenty empty) and when all 5 of us sat down and gave our drink orders that she forgot and brought out in 3 separate trips. Then as we were eating the food was kind of cold and we ate anyway until we saw no less than 3 staff members stick their bare hands into the food.
This place is horrible. The food is possibly the worst I've ever gotten from a restaurant. On top of the food being bad, it's $19 PER person! AND then if you want to pay with a credit/debit card they want to charge you another 4%. Do yourself a favor and drive up to Robertsdale and eat at Magnolia Blossom. Same type food but 10× better and half the price.
A very tasteful restaurant. The food was quite good and unique. It tends to have an older crowd. I sat next to a couple in there early 20s. They complained about what they were eating so I tried it myself. I'm not sure what it was they were actually complaining about, to me it was quite good. I also saw some people leave because of the price, for witch I was fine with as they were not people I wanted to be in company with. Think of the price like how some beaches charge 5 dollars to enter. It keeps a certain crowed out .
4 for Sunday lunch. Food selections were bountiful and fresh. Plenty of hot or cold selections including Shrimp Bisque, Seafood Gumbo, Crab Salad, Seafood Salad, plus seasonal standards turkey and dressing. Large selection of desserts included my favorite, bread pudding. Can't miss.
Food was delicious, cold bar was excellent, service was great. But then we went into the gift shop and saw all the MAGA merchandise, so this is clearly a business that panders to racist sentiments. Definitely will not be returning.
Thanksgiving Dinner is always good here
When you 1st enter this particular restaurant you will find that the atmosphere is very quaint. The decorations that they used are nostalgic is the best way I can describe it. Additionally all of the décor had a homey feel and you could tell that whoever owns this place brought some of their own personality into it. However, the food was I would say average. Some of the dishes were not hot and they should have been. Additionally some of the other dishes that appeared to look good had more of a bland flavor. If you're looking for a very calming atmosphere this restaurant would be excellent for that it was quiet and peaceful. I would go back to this restaurant but I think I would go there during the lunch hour so that the food is turned over quicker.
Love this place!
Had a fantastic lunch today. The food is great and there is a wide selection of salads and entrees. The setting is lovely and the staff is very friendly. So glad we stumbled upon this amazing place. We will definitely be coming back.
Great place to go when in foley. Was a big surprise. Very nice atmosphere. Staff was friendly and attentive. The food selection was kind of small but the taste more then made up for it. A definite A+ on my list.
Thanksgiving Lunch here was a bit disorganized and the food really wasn't worth the escalated prices. It was a little below okay. Definitely won't go back for Thanksgiving lunch.
Exact buffet with different meats and seafood, this includes dessets. There is no menu though and somewhat pricey.
Really a unique place to eat. Great staff with it's own neat atmosphere
This the sweetest place love the food the staff is outstanding they have a great cook book
Great food great prices
Best buffet in Baldwin county. On Sunday and Monday you can get buy one get one with church bulletin! Very good southern food.
Food was okay but some of it looked like it had been sitting out a long time and the macaroni tasted sour. Small selection of food for an expensive price. The bread pudding was delicious and it was a nice atmosphere. It seemed better suited for a wedding than a buffet Me and my boyfriend were the only ones there. The music was kind of annoying, very old Christian songs. Probably won't go back.
The place was empty. The food was dried out and tasted terrible. Definitely not worth $18.95 a person. The waitress even commented that fresh food needed to be put out. My son’s milk was chunky. We should have known when it was just the three of us and one other gentleman at 6pm when it should have been busy. We thought maybe because it was a Tuesday, but it wasn’t. Will never return there!
Good place for Sunday Brunch.
The buffet has very good country style dishes. Items such as cheesy apples, grits, and baked and fried chicken. Though it wasn't busy the cook constantly kept the stuff turned over and fresh. The interior is very unique and full of antiques.
I loved this restaurant the food and service was wonderful. I recommend it to everyone it’s such a beautiful place. A++
Wow... I mean wow. Two people for lunch was $40.00. No sign or menus and the salad was literally lettuce, imitation bacon bits, off brand croutons and a choice of 4 dressings. There were 6 or so pre-prepared pasta salad ish looking stuff. The hot foods includes about ten things which two were some type of soup creation. Chicken wings, broiled chicken Mac n cheese and green beans, something they called apple cheese and what I guess was sweet potatoes. I have traveled a lot and have eaten at some whole in the wall places but this was the worst food and experience I have ever had. There was bad church music being played and the whole feel was like a funeral. Whoever gave this place a good rating should be ashamed of themselves.
Our server was on time!!! What a treat! Southern hospitality and cooking! We will definatly be back.
An excellent buffet, but going Sunday is a better time
